Geneva Welcomes Students Back to Campus
We are so pleased to have our students back on campus! As we once again seek to fulfill the mission of Geneva College to equip students for faithful and fruitful service to God and neighbor during pandemic conditions, we are committed to care for each other to keep our community healthy.
Here are some ways Geneva is caring for students and improving the educational experience this semester.

Send Us Your Documents
It’s important that students send us their test results if:
- They have had a COVID-19 test at home within three days before coming to campus
- They've had and recovered from COVID within the last 90 days
This is an easy and confidential process. Please upload medical documents as soon as possible to Geneva Health Services’ secure site, Pyramed. Instructions are available at www.geneva.edu/pyramedupload.
Students who properly send us your medical documents will receive a $10 gift card for either Sheetz or Beaver Falls Coffee & Tea. |

New Study and Social Spaces
In the fall semester, we were blessed with good weather and students found pandemic-safe spaces under outdoor tents. With the cold weather and snow of a Western PA winter, the tents are gone, but students still need places to go and gather safely. The college has prepared a number of indoor spaces with important health and safety protocols in mind where students can study or have discussions. A Study and Social Places on Campus guide has been sent to students.

Practice Daily Screening Now
In order to develop the habit of completing the Daily Health Screening and to help Geneva better understand the health of students prior to campus arrival, students should be completing the Daily Health Screening now. If they are still at home, they will need to contact their physician if they answer YES to any of the questions and also contact Geneva College Health Services.
The daily health screening is an important tool to help Health Services in mitigating the virus in our community, and we expect everyone to complete it daily, whether or not they are on campus. Anyone who doesn’t have access to technology to conduct the screening should contact Dean of Students Jamie Swank at jrswank@geneva.edu. To encourage regular participation in Health Screening, Geneva will charge a daily $5 fee to students who don’t complete it.
Here's more you need to know:
- We’re all called to care for our community. Faculty and staff will also be penalized when they don’t complete their Daily Health Screening.
- Students will continue to get a GC Alert reminder early every morning. If they don’t complete the screening, they will get a second reminder about four or five hours later.
- Students will be given three grace “misses” before charges begin.
- All moneys collected will go to improving the isolation and quarantine experience for students.
- We’ve wrestled with enforcing requirements on the Lord’s day. While you are encouraged to complete the screening seven days a week, you will not be fined if you miss on Sunday. But please understand it is especially important to complete the Health Screening when you experience symptoms, no matter the day.

Return Books to the Bookstore
Due to students leaving campus before finals week last semester, Follett extended a grace period for the return of books. They may be shipped to campus now or may be returned in person during the first couple of days of classes. The final due date for rental book returns, including the grace period, is THIS WEEK - Friday, January 22, 2021.
That means that no one will be charged non-return fees until after January 22, 2021. You will not see any charges as long as they return the books to the store on or prior to Friday, January 22, 2021.

Student Parking Permits Required
If a student brings a car to campus, they are required to purchase a parking permit. A single permit will be issued and may be transferred from one vehicle to another provided EACH vehicle is registered. All payments for permits will be made online after completing the application. The parking permit will be distributed to the student's mailbox located in the Student Center.
The cost for a parking permit is $85. Students can submit their application and payment by logging into myGeneva/Student Information/Student Life Info and scroll down to Student Parking. Click on the link to begin your application.

Have You Completed the FAFSA?
In the midst of all the COVID challenges, protocol changes and return-to-campus plans, don’t forget about filing the FAFSA. If you haven’t done so yet, you can download the app and do it right from your device. Go to studentaid.gov and complete the FAFSA now!

Spring Semester Meal Plan – Changes
Does your student want to change their meal plan for the spring semester? They can change it beginning today until January 22 (the first Friday of classes). If they don’t do anything, their meal plan will remain the same.

Fans in the Stands
The Geneva College Golden Tornadoes will return to competition during the spring semester. Our student-athletes will have the opportunity to train and compete in NCAA DIII competitions starting in late January, and we want to provide our alumni, family and friends a unique way to show their support in the competition venues.
To prepare for the spring season we are launching the Golden Tornadoes "Fans in Stands Campaign" presented by Flick Financial LLC. With a $50 donation, you can have a Fan Cutout in Metheny Fieldhouse for all spring athletic competitions. All donations will go to the Geneva Athletic Annual Fund which will support all student-athletes. Fan cutouts are $50 each, one person per picture. Once your donation has been received and processed, you will be emailed a link to upload your photo.

Small-group Chapel Continues
This week started Geneva College Chapel on campus. Chapel will continue in the spring semester to consist of meetings of small groups in various places around campus. The messages will be livestreamed for everyone to hear at the same time. Following the campus-wide, corporate experience, leaders in each remote location will lead students in discussion and prayer.
We’re thankful for this technology that enables the community to continue meeting together during the COVID pandemic. Messages are livestreamed and available for viewing on-demand on the Geneva College Facebook page.
The first Chapel message of 2021 was presented by Pastor Titus Martin on Wednesday, January 20. It was entitled, "God Is Love" and based on scripture from 1 John 4:8 and Romans 8:38-39.

MLK Day: A Celebration of the Life & Legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. was observed on Monday, January 18, prior to the start of classes at Geneva.
The day included a Moments from the Civil Rights Movement: An Interactive Experience, which introduced students to notable people and events from the civil rights era of the 1950s and 60s.

Geneva College Pittsburgh Campus announces The Church and Her Mission course in two parts: free webinar from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, January 30, 2021 – followed by an in-person, three-week course from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, April 10, 17, and 24, 2021 at the Allegheny Center Alliance Church on Pittsburgh’s North Side.
The course covers questions like, Who are we as the people of God? What is the Church? Why are we here? What is the mission? What is "missions," and what does this look like in the local church?
