Serving Leaders Conference - Spril 19, 2012

We are very pleased to announce the keynote speakers for our annual Geneva College MSOL/Serving Leaders Conference: Chick-fil-A executives Dan Cathy, President and COO, and Mark Miller, Vice President of Training and Development.

In his quest to provide customers with "second-mile" service (exceeding even the highest expectations of a typical fast-food restaurant), Dan Cathy, son of company founder Truet Cathy, has defined a special role for himself, humbly saying, "I work in customer service." His personal passion is to see the fulfillment of the Chick-fil-A Corporate Purpose: "To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A."

Mark Miller is the co-author with Ken Blanchard of the book, The Secret: What Great Leaders Know and Do and the forthcoming book, Great Leaders Grow: Becoming a Leader for Life. An employee of Chick-fil-A since 1977, Mark previously served in many areas at the company including Corporate Communications, Field Operations, and Quality & Customer Satisfaction. He is also a member of the Operations Council and the Strategic Planning Team for Chick-fil-A, Inc. In addition to his work at Chick-fil-A, Mark is a frequent speaker at leadership events around the world.

The annual MSOL/Serving Leaders Conference is organized by the Geneva College Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) Department in partnership with Serving Leaders, a Pittsburgh non-profit organization led by Dr. John Stahl-Wert, president of the Pittsburgh Leadership Foundation. The conference provides participants the opportunity to examine the beliefs, attitudes and behaviors of "servant leaders," learn how to apply these concepts in their own organizations, and share experiences with colleagues.

Over 450 leaders from organizations throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia attended last year′s conference, "Leading at a Higher Level." Sponsors of the 2011 conference included Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, FedEx, Giant Eagle, Leaders Serving Beaver County, MSA, Eat′n Park, Federated Investors, Hefren-Tillotson and Sheetz. Keynote speakers were Ken and Margie Blanchard and Dr. John Stahl-Wert.

The 2011 Serving Leader Award recipient was Dr. Bruce Bickel, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of the Private Foundation Management Services Group of PNC Wealth Management and President of Transformation Leadership Group, a character-based leadership consulting firm.

We are very excited about the 2012 Geneva College MSOL/Serving Leader Conference. More information will be available soon at www.geneva.edu/msol. SAVE THE DATE-April 19, 2012!
