MSOL Discussion Groups

neil_brem_photo_3.jpgThe Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) program is designed for working adults who are looking to develop or strengthen their leadership skills. And opportunities for continued development are not just limited to students currently enrolled in the program. Facilitated discussion groups are available to both current students and alumni of the MSOL program. These groups meet on Saturday mornings for only an hour and a half at one of two locations: the Regional Learning Alliance in Cranberry Township and the Panera Bread located in the Miracle Mile Shopping Center in Monroeville. These groups gather to discuss peer-reviewed articles chosen by Dr. Jim Dittmar, the chair of the MSOL department. The articles are emailed to group participants in advance, and address current leadership issues and models.

Neil Brem, a current MSOL student and member of Cohort 80, attended the last three MSOL discussion groups in Cranberry. In a recent presentation to his classmates, Neil shared what he perceived to be some of the values of the discussion groups: "The articles discussed are from current journals. We talk about issues faced by leaders and followers in today′s workplace. There are opportunities for interaction with other MSOL students and alumni who come from various backgrounds and bring different experiences to the discussion. Concepts and ideas covered are immediately applicable. The models discussed in the fall of 2011 were sacrificial leadership, authentic leadership and flexible leadership. The content is unique and not covered in class, so there is no duplication of information."

If you are a Geneva MSOL student or alum, we invite you to join us for upcoming discussion groups. For dates, times and locations, see the "Discussion Groups" tab on this page. If you are interested in the MSOL program, we invite you to call us at 724-847-2715 or visit our website at www.geneva.edu/msol. Our classes are conveniently located throughout the greater Pittsburgh area. For upcoming cohorts, please see the "Upcoming Cohorts" list at the top of this page.

The MSOL degree opens doors of opportunity. Graduates of the program have advanced within their own organizations, taught college-level courses and started their own businesses. Many have gone on to pursue doctorate-level studies. Over 850 leaders have graduated from the program. One of our most recent graduates, Noralynn Spiri, ADCP Class 198 and MSOL Cohort 71, stated, "I am now driven by a profound sense of responsibility to use my leadership skills to serve and to help others reach their fullest potential." Consider the MSOL program today to begin the journey of reaching your full potential!
