Amanda Griffith took a different route to college than most, but she eventually made her way to Geneva—and she says that her experiences here were nothing less than rewarding.

Amanda grew up in Washington, PA, and was homeschooled until 11th grade before attending McGuffey High School her senior year. Upon graduation, Amanda enrolled at the University of the Nations, a global Christian university which operates under the Youth With A Mission (YWAM) network, and spent two years studying missions on four different continents—Europe, South America, Africa and Asia.

During her time at the University of the Nations, Amanda witnessed God use business as an incredible vehicle for ministry, and she was pleased to discover that Geneva shared this vision. In addition, she found the friendly, Christian atmosphere at Geneva inviting—and knowing some of the students certainly helped. “I had some of my dearest friends already attending Geneva since I was two years behind,” Amanda notes. “And once I stepped on campus, I felt the presence of God. Geneva felt like home.”

Amanda graduated in 2010 with a degree in international business. And during her time here, she developed friendships with a number of her professors, particularly the chair of the business department Dr. Bill Pearce. “He prepared me the most for the business world and challenged my thinking,” she says.

Following graduation, Amanda obtained employment at TrueFit, an innovation firm that builds web, social media and mobile apps, and helps entrepreneurs and companies bring custom commercial software to market. She is a strategic account executive at the company, assisting in the development of the business by evaluating ideas and collaborating with her team.

Amanda explains, “The majority of my time is spent meeting with entrepreneurs and enterprise clients to hear their new technology ideas. I then return to collaborate with our development teams at TrueFit to see how we can build them. I also help facilitate innovation sessions as we take clients through to dial up the value on ideas they are trying to launch.”

In addition to her career, Amanda’s passion for missions has inspired her to become involved in several ministries. She spent time working with Side by Side Ministries “helping with the boutique they have to provide clothes for children of single moms.” She adds, “I did some design and formatting for their monthly newsletter, helped with childcare, and assisted with food and setup.” Amanda also worked with Threads of Hope, a ministry that provides women in impoverished countries with jobs sewing textiles. “It's an incredible organization, and the micro finance element is in line with what inspired me into the ‘business mission field’ full time.”

Amanda made the most of her time at Geneva, and all of her hard work, along with the excellent preparation she received, certainly paid off. She says, "The professors at Geneva gave me real-world training so that I was well prepared to begin my career."
