The environmental science major at Geneva College focuses on the functioning of the natural world, environmental problems and solutions, and management of natural resources. We provide students a foundation in the natural sciences, as well as an understanding of the factors that influence environmental decision-making. We also desire that they come to value the natural world as God′s creation, which He rules by His providence and over which He has mandated us to be caretakers. We aim to help our students gain skill in relating Biblical principles of ethics to environmental problems. Finally, we want them to apply their knowledge, values and skills, with excellence, toward their specific callings as servant-leaders in God′s world.
Students pursuing a bachelor′s degree in environmental science will take a minimum of four courses at Au Sable Institute of Environmental Studies, with one of them being Land Resources. Au Sable is a Christian institute of environmental studies whose purpose is to train student leaders in the skills, theory and ethic necessary to care for God′s world. Courses take place at four campuses around the globe: Michigan (Great Lakes), Washington State (Pacific Rim; Puget Sound), South India and Costa Rica. For more information about Au Sable, visit www.ausable.org.
