Beaver Falls, PA - When a team goes through a successful season and post-season run such as the one put forth by the Geneva College men′s soccer team, it only stands to reason that it would receive some post-season recognition. Such has been the case for the 2011 Golden Tornadoes. This week, the NCAA announced its Great Lakes All-Region team and a pair of Geneva players were recognized. Meanwhile, the NCCAA announced its All-American team and the Golden Tornadoes had a pair of players make that list.

Senior midfielder Jake McCracken led the Golden Tornadoes with 16 goals in 2011. He scored in each of Geneva′s three NCCAA national tournament matches to cap off an amazing season and an amazing career. Finishing with 33 goals in his career, McCracken ranks third on Geneva′s all-time list. For his efforts in 2011, McCracken was named a second team Great Lake All-Region performer while also garnering first team NCCAA All-American status. Fellow senior defender Caleb Musselman was named a second team NCCAA All-American for his part in a Geneva′s stingy defense throughout the campaign. Joining McCracken on the NCAA All-Region team was junior forward Jeb Nash after posting a solid season that included seven goals and a team best ten assists.

"We have never been about individual awards in this program," said head coach Gary Dunda. "With that being said, these guys undoubtedly have earned these awards. To get a pair of guys on the All-Region team and a pair of guys receiving All-American status is a true testament of the kind of season our team had in 2011. I couldn′t be more proud of each of these young men and of our entire program."

The Golden Tornadoes finished the 2011 season with an overall record of 16-6-3 and finished second in the Presidents′ Athletic Conference while also taking home the runner-up trophy at the NCCAA national tournament that included a field of seven scholarship programs.
