Your_Work_Matters.jpgDr. Tom Nelson will speak at Geneva College during chapel on Wednesday, October 24. He is the author of Work Matters: Connecting Sunday Worship to Monday Work, which explores the ways that the fall has affected vocation and how God can be involved in every aspect of life.

Dr. Nelson is the Senior Pastor of Christ Community Church in Leawood, Kansas, where he has served for more than 20 years. He holds a Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from Trinity International University. He is the author of several other books, including 5 Smooth Stones and Ekklesia. Dr. Nelson also serves on board of The Gospel Coalition.

Chapel is a weekly devotional time for the Geneva College community on Wednesdays from 10:10-11 a.m. in Metheny Fieldhouse. This time provides an opportunity for the campus to gather together to praise God, hear His word, and seek His favor and direction. Attendance is required for students and the entire campus community is encouraged to participate.

Also on Wednesday, Dr. Nelson will join Dr. Steven Garber at the Rivers Club in Pittsburgh, PA, for "Work Matters: A conversation about vocation and the church" to discuss the idea that vocation is integral to the mission of God in the world. This event for pastors and seminary faculty is presented by the Washington Institute for Faith, Vocation and Culture, in partnership with the Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO).

On Thursday, October 25, Dr. Nelson will address "The Great Purpose of Work" as the featured speaker for the Serving Leaders′ Breakfast Series. He will share from his conversations with people around the country, in various industries who are seeking to integrate their faith and their work in practical, ongoing ways. The Serving Leaders′ Breakfast Series is intended to provide opportunities for people from every sector and career stage to come together to connect, learn and grow for the sake of the common good in Pittsburgh.
