Geneva College - Alumni & Friends FYI Newsletter - January 29, 2021

Welcome!

Dear Geneva Alumni,

Our campus is once again alive with students as we return to face-to-face, in-person learning for the spring semester. Our faculty and staff learned much this fall about achieving our mission under pandemic conditions. We’ve retained practices that work well like daily health screenings submitted personally by everyone in our community; and we’ve upgraded several things we learned from last term like improved dining options and internet service. We continue to make adjustments based on new knowledge, data, and experience. You can find important and up-to-date information in our Coronavirus Information Center at www.Geneva.edu/coronavirus.

Our work is done for God’s glory—with Christ as King and under scripture. And we continue to be grateful for the help of our faithful, generous alumni and friends of the college. Without your support, we could not welcome and teach over 1,200 students or enable hundreds of student-athletes in more than a dozen sports to compete during this spring semester. We continue to need you in so many ways to do our work.

Please pray with us for the Lord’s help and guidance as we strive for excellence in our ministry of education with a singular focus on following the will of God. Pray with us for:

  • Student success in challenging conditions related to COVID-19
  • The Lord’s protection from outbreaks that would disrupt varsity athletic competition
  • Wisdom for our Campus Emergency Response Team as they continue to navigate under pandemic conditions
  • Patience and discipline as we keep our community safe and await opportunities for vaccinations
Warmly in Christ,

Calvin L. Troup, PhD,
President

Do you have FAQs?
We’re so glad to be holding classes again on campus! As we care for our community and develop protocols to keep students, faculty and staff healthy, questions inevitably occur – and we do our best to answer them.

We’ve recently updated our FAQs. Feel free to peruse them at your leisure.

Alumni and friends are welcome to ask questions too. Just send your questions to information@geneva.edu. We’ll do our best to get answers for you.

COVID-19 Vaccines
The college has submitted for approval by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to serve as a vaccination site for the campus and surrounding community in the Beaver Falls area, with the expectation that we will begin providing vaccinations shortly. Our participation as a vaccination site will expedite vaccinations for faculty, staff and students. After that, we will be able to vaccinate our neighbors, as we become eligible according to CDC vaccination guidelines as implemented by the PA Department of Health.

Gold & White Challenge Update
Geneva President Calvin L. Troup, PhD, announced great news from this fall's Gold & White Alumni Referral Challenge: Geneva alumni eclipsed the goal of 50 alumni-referred applications by January 1 by referring high school students to Geneva Admissions. All applicants are eligible to receive a $4,000 Gold & White Alumni Grant upon enrollment, thanks to their alumni referrer. Thank you.

And you are among the first to know: Dr. Troup is extending a new challenge to alumni in giving the gift that only alumni can give. Last year, 75 students applied to Geneva through the Gold & White Program. This year, Dr. Troup is setting the goal of 100 students referred through the Gold & White Program to apply to Geneva by April 1, 2021. We’ll be sharing more information with you about this challenge!

Making Spaces
Multi-use tents provided extra space on campus in the fall for classes, dining overflow, meetings, studying, and social gatherings. With the arrival of cold winter weather, the tents are gone. But Geneva has carved out new study and social places on campus for students
