Geneva College - Alumni & Friends FYI Newsletter - March 26, 2021

Welcome!

Dear Geneva Alumni,

We're grateful for Spring! We've been blessed with an unusually warm and sunny March that has opened up campus just when we needed it most.

The large tents that provide cover for outdoor activities and meals are back, sooner than we might have expected. And with nearly all of our varsity sports teams in competition this spring, athletes and student spectators (all within PA guidelines) are reaping the benefits of live action almost every day.

Our Admissions counselors are again conducting on-campus tours for prospective students. We are planning on-campus, in-person Commencement exercises in May.

The Lord has enabled us to conduct face-to-face instruction and campus activities with limited COVID-19 cases. We are still practicing pandemic risk mitigation measures, not letting up as we work toward completion of the academic year on campus.

Your prayers continue to sustain us as we seek the Lord's help carrying out our ministry of education. Please pray with us for:

  • Low alert level conditions to persist on campus allowing us to maintain face-to-face instruction
  • Expansion of vaccine distribution to further protect our community from serious infection
  • Clarity for prospective students and families in discerning the will of God about committing to Geneva to further their education
Warmly in Christ,

Calvin L. Troup, PhD,
President

A Message from President Calvin L Troup Shared
on Friday, March 12, 2021
I announce with great sadness the death of Geneva College's 18th President, now President emeritus, Dr. John H. "Jack" White, who faithfully served the College as president from 1992-2004. Dr. White first came to the College in 1970 as Dean of Religious Services and Professor of Biblical Studies.

Dr. White went to his eternal reward, a great loss to us. Yet, for Dr. White, who so faithfully testified and taught the Kingdom Gospel of Jesus Christ as pastor, professor, and president, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. We will miss him.

Please pray for his wife Mary and for the entire White family as they grieve the loss of Dr. White. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.

March Matchness Ends Wednesday!
There are still a few more days to make a contribution to Geneva during March Matchness and double its impact. Geneva's governing boards have been matching—dollar for dollar—every gift given to the COVID-19 Project, Geneva Fund, and/or Geneva Athletic Fund up to a total of $205,000. Together, we can maximize our commitment to an institution where God is at work, raising up a new generation of servant-leaders. We've made great progress thanks to generosity from alumni and friends—help us achieve our goal!
