Dear Geneva Alumni,
The news from our state government and health officials has been very promising. Today, June 12, our home location, Beaver County, moves to the Green Phase of re-opening with the least restrictive COVID-19 mitigation protocols.
The Green Phase means that Geneva may re-open for face-to-face instruction with appropriate health and safety measures in place. On our campus this week, we began offering limited campus tours to prospective students. Some employees who are unable to work remotely have been able to return to their jobs.
The Campus Emergency Response Team (CERT) is making progress on plans to welcome students back to campus safely in the fall, and faculty members are taking part in training for the new realities of education during the pandemic. Some adjustments have been necessary, most notably to our academic calendar – and details are in this Alumni & Friends FYI.
Please continue to pray for our:
- CERT as they make ongoing decisions about complex health & safety issues for the campus community
- New and returning students, especially those whose families have suffered financial hardship
- Staff as they return to campus or continue remote work
- Faculty as they prepare for face-to-face and online instruction, with many contingencies
- COVID-19 Advisory Council as they provide expertise on re-opening campus and fall instruction
- Board of Trustees as they seek God’s wisdom in leading the college
Geneva has established the COVID-19 Project Fund to meet financial challenges associated with the pandemic including relief grants for students whose families have experienced severe economic dislocation; major instructional technology upgrades; essential additions to our health, wellness, and athletic training staff; retrofitting campus with measures to deter spread of the virus in our community; and financial impact of decreased enrollment due to COVID-19.
Warmly in Christ,
Calvin L. Troup, PhD,
