Special Note of Thanks

Dear Parents - We have reached the end of the fall semester, and we could not have conducted our Geneva face-to-face instruction under pandemic conditions without God's grace and your support. Thank you for your patience and the trust you placed in us by sending your student to campus this fall.

Melinda Stephens, PhD, Provost
Jamie Swank, JD, Dean of Student Development

Finish the Semester Well

Please know that faculty and staff prayed for your students as they took their finals. We want them to finish well. If there are any assignments your students need to complete in these final days, please encourage them to work with their professors. Final semester grades are due December 14.

No Mistake, it’s FAFSA Time

It's that time again! Don't forget to have your student fill out their 2021-2022 FAFSA for the upcoming year. Students can download the app and fill it out right from their device. Send them to studentaid.gov to complete the FAFSA now!

Spring Semester Schedule

The schedule for the spring semester is announced! It’s going to start a bit later, with classes beginning Tuesday, January 19. The schedule will not be as condensed as this fall has been and has some extra days off built in. Check it out for yourself.

Plan for Spring Tuition Payment

All full-time registered undergraduate students are eligible to enroll in a monthly, interest-free payment plan to assist in paying the spring semester balance. Check into Nelnet now; enrollment is open and first bills are due by January 2, 2021.

Winter Term Offerings

Due to the longer winter break, Geneva offers a fully online Winter Term from Dec. 9, 2020 to Jan. 15, 2021. Costs for Winter Term are the same as Summer Term - $333/credit. Students can register now.

Health Insurance is a Requirement
If you Have it, Just Waive the University Plan

We care about the health and welfare of our students. Geneva College requires ALL full-time traditional undergraduate students to carry health insurance.

To help our students comply with this policy, each full-time traditional undergraduate student will be enrolled in a University Health Plan through Geneva College, UNLESS the student completes an online waiver with policy information showing that they already have health insurance coverage. The cost per year is $1,022 and coverage runs January 1 through July 31, 2021. The website to waive the student health insurance is now open.

Student Parking Permits Required

If your student brings a car to campus, they are required to purchase a parking permit. A single permit will be issued and may be transferred from one vehicle to another provided EACH vehicle is registered. All payments for permits will be made online after completing the application. The parking permit will be distributed to the student mailbox located in the Student Center.

The cost for a parking permit is $85. Students can submit their application and payment by logging into myGeneva/Student Information/Student Life Info and scroll down to Student Parking. Click on the link to begin your application.

Get Refunds via Direct Deposit

If students are eligible to receive a refund from their student accounts, we encourage them to sign up for Student Choice Refunds (SCR.) Once enrolled, Geneva will process refunds and deposit them directly into a bank account via an ACH transaction. This will eliminate the need to go to the bank to deposit a check, loss of checks, and delayed deposit of funds. The SCR process is managed through the student's Nelnet account.

Instructions to enroll can be found on the website at: https://www.geneva.edu/student-financial-services/tuition-costs-billing You may sign up at any time. If you have any questions contact Student Financial Services at sfs@geneva.edu or call 724-847-6550.

December Graduation Reception – in November

The December Graduation Reception (in November) was a special time for the December graduates, even as the event was different this year.

It was held on Saturday, November 21 and in-person attendance was extremely limited due to COVID-19 restrictions. At the same time, many family and friends who wanted to watch the event were able to do so because it was livestreamed on YouTube. If you would like to watch the December Graduation Reception as it occurred, just watch the video on You Tube.

Help with Your Student’s Tax Documents

Geneva has partnered with ECSI to help students with tax documents, enabling the opportunity to receive the 1098-T Tuition Statement electronically this year. If students would like to receive the 1098-T form electronically, they need to provide their information and follow the instructions.

Genevans Christmas Concert

For the past 82 years, The Genevans have been performing their Annual Christmas Concert for the Geneva community, Beaver Falls neighbors and music lovers far and wide. With 2020 being a year of COVID-19 and a live performance impossible, the tradition couldn’t continue as it was.

That tradition is not over, just changing this year.

The Genevans will present their 83rd Annual Christmas Concert, to premier on Friday, December 11 at 7 p.m., as itheir first fully virtual Christmas concert. All will still be able to enjoy the concert. Titled “Sing Alleluia!” and conducted by Dr. David Kenneth Smith, the Christmas Concert is being recorded in First Presbyterian Church in Beaver Falls, the traditional home of The Genevans Christmas Concert.

So on December 11 at 7 p.m. visit The Genevans YouTube Channel to watch the event.

Message to Students:
Counseling Services &
A Toolkit
By Amy Solman, LPC, CADC, CTMH, MA, Director of Counseling Services

Let me say, you did it! We are very proud of you and the resilience you have shown in this unique semester. For such a time as this... I trust that the Lord will use the lessons and growth you've experienced to encourage you in your future challenges. Here in Counseling Services, we have created a "Mental Health Tool Kit @Home." I want to give a huge thank-you to Georgia Scott, our Graduate Assistant in Health and Counseling Services, and Hannah Broadway, our Assistant Director in Counseling Services, for their hard work on this resource.

Whether your home is a secure, loving and safe place, or the exact opposite, know that this Tool Kit is for everyone. We wanted to equip you with concrete and practical ways to cope with anxiety, depression and other feelings you might be experiencing in this unusual time that we are all living in. And remember, Counseling Services is not available for students over semester break- but if you want to meet with us when you return in the Spring- please reach out to me at alsolman@geneva.edu. Storm on and happy break!

Seniors Should Think About Calling & Career!

Important Book Return Information

There have been some questions about the due date for rental books. As noted in the email below, the due date for rental book returns is 12/4/2020. To clarify, what has been extended is the grace period, which ends at the end of business on 1/22/2021. No one will be charged non-return fees until after 1/22/2021. Students will not see any charges as long as they return the books to the store on or prior to 1/22/2021.
