Outcomes Assessment

The purpose of this section is to present an overview of Geneva College’s primary institutional student learning outcomes and to provide insights on those outcomes where available. The College follows a yearly schedule in which its programs and core curriculum are evaluated through multiple metrics in order to engage in effective student learning outcomes assessment and consequently facilitate continual program improvement over time. This section deals specifically with academic outcomes assessment.

Geneva assesses program effectiveness at the institutional level by continually measuring six key student learning outcomes: Worldview, Bible Knowledge and Christian Life, Communication, Liberal arts and Critical Thinking, Cultural Engagement, and Professionalism. Each outcome is assessed by at least two measures. These measures can consist of specific course assignment grades benchmarked against a target, as well as student surveys that measure Geneva’s effectiveness in impacting students in relation to an outcome.

Each of the six key student learning outcomes and their descriptions are listed below. In the future, we plan to provide more detail and insights regarding the results of each chosen measure.
