Fulbright U.S. Program

What is the Fulbright U.S. Student Program?

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides grants for the purpose of study, research, or teaching English in countries outside of the U.S. The Fulbright program provides an opportunity for individuals to have a cross-cultural experience within the classroom, home, and field. These opportunities stretch across academic disciplines and are designed to provide experience and space for growth to graduating college seniors, graduate students and young professionals.

What should I do if I'm interested?

Check in at the Crossroads office or send an email to crossroads@geneva.edu. The Crossroads office will connect you with a Fulbright advisor who will provide guidance throughout the necessary steps of the application process.

Fulbright Scholar Program

What is the Fulbright Scholar Program?

The purpose of the Fulbright Scholar Program is to further positive relations between the United States and other countries through the exchange of scholars. The Fulbright Scholar program provides grants to nominated scholars for work abroad in the nominee’s field of expertise. As a U.S. scholar abroad, one will conduct research, participate in seminars, and lecture at institutions within the host country. 

The Fulbright Scholar Program offers hundreds of grants for teaching and research. The programs extend to over 125 countries, and the Scholar Program now offers multi-country grants for trans-regional teaching and research. A candidate for the Scholar Program will be awarded a grant based upon a Project Statement written by the candidate. The Project Statement informs peer reviewers of one’s background, experience, teaching and research interests, and intentions for the program. 

Who can apply to the Fulbright Scholar Program?

The Fulbright Scholar program is available to college and university scholars and professionals with more than five years of experience in a variety of fields.  The applicant ought to have evidence of professional excellence in a variety of forms, including publications, honors, compositions, fellowships, etc. Preference is given to professionals who have not spent extensive time in the country of application.
