Cybersecurity

Computer Science and Cybersecurity

Among the best cybersecurity degree programs in the state, Geneva College’s Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity makes sense in a world of growing intrusions, hacking, scams and ransomware. And there is a great need for cybersecurity professionals; as a matter of fact, the U.S. government currently needs to employ more professionals in this field than are currently available in the marketplace. Demand is expected to continue to increase, meaning job and career opportunities abound. The B.S. in Cybersecurity degree program provides an expanded background in security, focusing on system cyber techniques, probing and scripting.

Cybersecurity majors develop a strong background and expertise in theoretical knowledge and practical skills in protecting computers, networks, databases and information systems from black hat intrusions and hacking attempts. Students learn forensic methods used to interrogate devices and recover data for disaster recovery and investigative purposes.

If you’ve been looking for colleges with programs that can give cybersecurity majors a head start in high-tech career fields, you’ve found it in Geneva. Our Bachelor’s in Cybersecurity degree program equips students with both technical and managerial competencies in computer science and information systems areas.

Career Possibilities with a Cybersecurity Degree

What can you do with a cybersecurity degree? You can move into a high-tech career, for one. The prospects for graduates with a cybersecurity degree are very good. A shortage of trained cybersecurity experts is recognized as a threat to individuals, corporations and national security.

In fact, there will be 3.5 million cybersecurity job openings by 2021, according to the annual jobs report form Cybersecurity Ventures. The CEO at Symantec, Michael Brown says demand for cyber security professionals will rise to six million globally by 2019. Worldwide spending on cyber defense will exceed $1 trillion between 2017 and 2021, reports Cybersecurity Online. In such a young and growing field, an undergraduate degree can qualify you to be a cybersecurity professional with numerous opportunities for employment.
