CLEP Policy

Geneva College grants credits for the College Board’s College Level Examination Program (CLEP). The College Board’s Examination Program has achieved scientifically reliable evaluation procedures for assessing mastery of knowledge in broad, general fields as well as in specific academic area.

There are two types of exams offered through the CLEP Program: General and Subject. Only the Subject exams may earn credit for the traditional degree seeking student.

  • The Subject examinations have been developed through surveying college professors about the content of the courses they teach and they are well designed and have carefully researched norms. Subject exams are intended for people who have acquired college level learning for which no college credit has been earned. Each individual test correlates with a specific course in a typical college curriculum. Letter grades will be assigned based on the percentile scores as published by CLEP.
