As technology has become an indispensable part of our daily lives, the jobs in the tech market have skyrocketed. There are nearly 3 million open cybersecurity positions around the globe (ISC2.org) and the field is still rapidly growing. Check out a few of those positions!

Chief Information Security Officer

  • A CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) works with security staff to protect the company’s information by developing and implementing an information security program. They are responsible for protecting the company’s communications, assets, and systems. The average salary for this position in the US is $165,285.

Forensic Computer Analyst

  • A forensic computer analyst works closely with law enforcement to analyze cybercrimes and retrieve data from storage devices and computers that has been deleted, manipulated, or damaged. The average salary for this position in the US is $74,618.

Information Security Analyst

  • An ISA (Information Security Analyst) is responsible for protecting an organization’s computer system and networks. This might look like installing firewalls, creating data recovery plans, or networking to stay on top of new cyber threats. The average salary for this position in the US is $73,187.

Penetration Tester

  • A penetration tester is essentially a professional hacker. Their job is to attempt to cyberattack a company and keep a detailed record of weaknesses and vulnerabilities so the organization’s IT department can patch up those holes and protect against real threats. IT Security Consultant

  • An IT security consultant is contracted by clients (typically smaller businesses) to advise said clients on how to protect their cyber security efficiently and cost-effectively. Rather than working in the same office with set hours each day, an IT security consultant might visit a different location each day of the week at different times.
