Dr. Paul ArnoldBeloved Geneva College professor W. Paul Arnold, Ph.D. went into the loving hands of our Lord on Saturday, January 8, 2011.

Dr. Arnold was a professor of mathematics at Geneva from 1963 to 1990. He taught mathematics and engineering and was instrumental in the development of the school′s computer science program, teaching the first computer class offered by Geneva and managing the computer center. Dr. Arnold was a Teacher of the Year recipient and was awarded Emeritus status when he retired in 1991.

In addition to teaching at Geneva College, Dr. Arnold served the Lord as a Presbyterian missionary in Siam, working with rural villagers and leper colonies. He was a member, deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher at the First Presbyterian Church in New Brighton.

He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Harvard College, Case Western Reserve University and earned his Bachelor of Science, Master of Education and Ph.D. at the University of Pittsburgh.

A devoted husband and father, Dr. Arnold joins wife Louise Roth Arnold, who passed away April 9, 2010. He is survived by three sons: Paul B.; Mark J., daughter-in-law Erin, and granddaughters Madison and Macey; and Frederick A., daughter-in-law Sherry and grandson Christopher F. and his wife, Stephanie, and great-granddaughter, Carmella.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 15, 2011, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, located at 1612 Third Ave in New Brighton, Pa.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 1199 Third Ave., New Brighton, Pa. 15066.
