Denise Murphy Gerber is an Associate Professor of Business and lead faculty member for the International Business major and a co-lead faculty member for the Marketing major. She teaches courses in marketing and international business. Dr. Murphy Gerber enjoys taking students on study abroad trips during either Spring Break or in May after finals week. Some of the places visited in recent years have been Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Austria, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, and China.
Dr. Murphy Gerber's research is in Integrated Marketing Communications and most recently artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on the academy. Before joining Geneva College, Dr. Murphy Gerber's business career spanned 25 years in Fortune 500 companies such as Nabisco, Becton Dickinson, and State Farm Insurance. She spent 60% of the time working out of the country and has worked in over 30 countries to date.
Dr. Murphy Gerber has been teaching in a higher education setting at both the undergraduate and graduate level since 2002. Dr. Murphy Gerber is currently Geneva College's NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative and serves on the college's Faculty Personnel Committee as well as the Student Development and Athletics Committee of Geneva College's Board of Trustees.
Dr. Murphy Gerber lives in New Wilmington, PA with her husband, Art, her two Springer Spaniels (Jasper and Abby), kitties (Ted, Willis, and Domino), 28 chickens and 4 ducks. She enjoys scrapbooking life's precious moments, gardening, making stained glass creations, and volunteering her time as a K-9 Rescue Transporter. She is an active member of the New Wilmington Presbyterian Church and the New Wilmington Garden Club.
Dr. Murphy-Gerber presented “Artificial Intelligence (AI): It's Impact on the Academy. Are You Ready?” at the Christian Business Faculty Association's annual conference in Lakewood, CO in 2023.
Dr. Murphy-Gerber was a session moderator at the 2024 Christian Business Faculty Association's Annual Conference in Grand Rapids, MI.
Dr. Murphy-Gerber led a group of students on a study abroad trip to Ireland and Scotland in the spring of 2022, and to Puerto Rico in the Spring of 2024. She is planning the next trip for 2026 to Greece and the Greek Isles! Plan to join us on this once in a lifetime experience!
