Heather “Professor Wendy Shidemantle taught me how to converse and learn in Spanish. Our class was like a little family, it felt so lovely being in class together and being welcomed into her home. I still am friends with people from that class. She gave me a chance to teach other students and further my own education.”
Heather “Dr. Scott and Wendy Shidemantle invited me to stay in their home when I had a rough time at home and I was a tenant in their apartment during a summer vacation. I didn't realize how much they both gave me until years later when I excitedly told Wendy about my first pregnancy. They weren't just teachers, but fellow life livers, if that makes sense. I loved my time at Geneva, I have pretty much all I do now because of my time there.”
Maggie Both Wendy Shidemantle and Stephanie Schindel are favorites! They were both incredibly influential during my time at Geneva and cared for me as a student, not just academically but emotionally and spiritually. They have been a constant encouragement and have supported me in many areas of life. They are wonderful and godly women who genuinely care for and love those around them.
Sam “There is only one Terry Thomas – he teaches Biblical truths one minute and has us laughing seconds later, or maybe at the same time.”
Betsy Terry Thomas. He is our stand up comedian at Geneva college. He really helped me out at Geneva College when I took his Bible class. His Reformation parties are the best. Don’t miss out. He’s very kind and understanding and such a great person to be around. He’s a great story teller too. I love you Terry Thomas.
Christianna Susan Layton, as my academic advisor, did an amazing job fenagling my schedule (which included transferring from another school, a semester abroad, and using the AIP partnership program) to allow me to graduate on time with a minor. She is a wonderful asset to the school.
Rebecca “Stephanie Schindel had a way of teaching that would move you and make you feel things, particularly in regards to discussions about populations that tend to be judged more harshly. Now in a position of educating others on one such topic, I find myself emulating what I found so moving about her classes.”
Emily “Stephanie Schindel was not only an amazing teacher but an example of the Christian woman, wife and mother I wanted to become. I also looked forward to every class with Dave Guthrie and Brad Frey!”

Sadie Stephanie Schindel and Mildred Louise Boyd-Johnson are my favorites! These ladies are so sweet and knowledgeable! There’s times at work when I literally only know information because they taught it to me. Some times I quote a Schindel-ism during the counseling groups.
Julia “Mrs. Kilpatrick showed me a love for our beautiful glorious God that I've never known. And also dr. Byron G. Curtis . I consider him a father in the faith for me. Can't count how many times I saw him cry out of sheer joy for Jesus. Good stuff. I love Geneva!”
Rachel “Is it possible to have a favorite? I love all my profs! Doyle, Curtis, Holliday, Miller, Smidt, Shidemantle, Doc Smith, Coach Kephart, Williams, too many to name!”
Lydia "Dr. Scott Shidemantle has been such a blessing to me both academically and spiritually. Not to mention all the classes I took with him were my favorites of my college career."

“Dr. Scott Shidemantle taught me, as a baby Christian, how to exegete scripture and how to apply it to life. It opened up a world to me that I hadn't been a part of before. We sat at lunch after my first day in his ‘John’ class while I cried because I didn't think I could do it and I had never truly read the Bible before. He was very calm in the face of my 20-year-old hysterics and assured me that I could. And I did (A- y'all).”
Michael "Professor Madeira brings complicated concepts of modern web development to life with his engaging and relatable teaching style."
Hannah “You can’t sit in a classroom taught by Rodney Austin or Dr. John Stahl without realizing that the world and everything in it is created by an amazing, intelligent God. Those two, especially, made chemistry understandable.”
Abi I have a hard time picking a favorite for sure. I think Dr. Meek, Dr. Frazier, Dr. Talbert, Dr. Ward, Dr. Watt, and Professor Schindel have been consistently challenging me not only in the classroom, but also outside. They are there to pray for me and encourage me whenever I need it and consistently check on me to see how I’m doing. That truly made me feel like I was at home especially being so far from my family.
Hayley "Oh my. I have so many favorites but I can narrow it down. Dr. Millie Johnson has been such a huge blessing to me and to many other students by being there when we need someone to talk to. I don't know what I would do without her!"
Sadie “Mildred Louise Boyd-Johnson and Stephanie Schindel definitely made an impact in my life! I am so blessed to know both of them and to have had the opportunity to have classes with them! They are definitely two gems at Geneva!”

Alyssa “Dr. Kerry McMahon! He is so easy to talk to. When I don't understand something I'm never afraid to ask him for his help. He models his faith in and outside of the class room. Without his guidance I would still not fully understand why we needed to take humanities classes as STEM majors.”
Dan “Keith Martel and Michael Barbato forever changed how I viewed myself, my faith, my vocation and the world. The single most important lesson I've learned was in a classroom outside the classroom.”
Michelle “Dr. Jonathan Watt convinced me to stay after my first semester when I wanted to give up, and I ended up graduating from Geneva. What a blessing he was to me.”
Emma I have a lot of favorites, but here’s a shoutout to Dr. Watt. He shared so much wisdom with me over my four years, including his opinion on pie. (He was a pie baking contest judge for an event I organized as an RA in Clarke.)
Jennifer “Dr. Stahl had the faith in me that got me to graduate school, and eventually landed me here in Texas working for one of the largest chemical companies in the world. I thought he was nuts when he told me to apply, and even more stunned when Bucknell wanted me as a student.”
Lynn “Dr. John Stahl, Dr. Roy Adams, Dr. David Badger, Dr. Phil Holladay, Dr. John Bock Shaefer, Dr. Leeann Molnar, and Dr. David Carson are the most memorable to me.”
Susan “Professor Joel Ward is great – he encourages us to think deeply and personally about everything we learn.”
Zachary Both Dr. Ward and Professor Schindel were both incredible mentors to me during my time at Geneva, modeling what it meant to be both a Christian and a scholar, and really pushing me as a student, a thinker, and a person. Without the two of them I know I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Alison “Jeff Schindel. I had 5 classes with him one semester and when life hit me HARD and I was struggling to even get though the day, he gave me a second chance when I should have failed every class that semester. He had compassion for me. He gave me MERCY. Without that gift I don't know where I would be right now but would not have a BA and a job at a Fortune 500 company like I do today. So thankful for that man.”
Shari “Jeff Schindel was my favorite classmate in DCP class #50. Gotta love him.”

Peter “Dr. Neikirk, no question about it, is my favorite. He's challenging, engaging, and extraordinarily practical in dealing with political science. Mr. Barlow and Dr. Williams also taught excellent classes. I got to learn a lot through the assignments and the classes.”
Nathanael "Dr. Richards has always taken a personal interest in me and the success of my learning within the computer science department. It's teachers like Dr. Richards that make Geneva such a great place."

David “Dr. Miller – History and Humanities – He was so powerful at teaching historical empathy and Christian worldview in HUM 103!”
Nathaniel “Professor Dambach is the best professor that I've had and expect to have. He was and is a great inspiration for me as I continue on in college.”
Aaron “Professor Dambach had a profound impact on my college career when he taught me freshman year, including through his wife's passing. I had numerous good and great professors, but he is an amazing human AND teacher.”

Travis “Professor Barlow convinced me to continue my education to be an engineer when I doubted myself and the path God had before me. He was always personable and willing to help. His mentorship was greatly appreciated. Now that I've been an engineer for over 3 years, I can't imagine it any other way!”
