Geneva College offers a mix of online and classroom based courses and programs. As an international student, it is important to have an understanding of what is required of you when attending classes at an American university.
International students studying in America attend on a non-immigrant visa called an F-1 visa. One of the requirements for this visa is that the student is attending classes on campus and not online as a majority. If you are interested in completing your Master’s degree fully online, please be aware that you will not receive a student visa to enter the United States. If you plan to attend classes on campus, however, you are eligible to apply for an F-1 student visa.
Geneva College is certified by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS’s) Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) and is authorized under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students. For all immigration paperwork and questions as you prepare to apply for a student visa, you will need to work with our International Admissions Counselor in Global Student Services at Geneva College.
Assuming you have been accepted into an on campus program at Geneva College, you will need to follow these steps before arriving in the United States:
*Please keep in mind: Geneva College does not guarantee that you will be issued a student visa to study in the United States. Assuming required documents are submitted, we can only issue you a Certificate of Eligibility (Form I-20) with which you can apply for the visa.
Geneva College does not provide any graduate housing for their students. The graduate students, both American citizens and international, are expected to find off campus housing on their own. We understand that as an international this can be difficult, but be aware that it is ultimately the student’s responsibility to secure housing. We can give you only limited assistance.
