Geneva Scores First At Roberts, Can′t Hold On

Rochester, NY - All season long, Geneva′s men′s soccer Todd Beall has been looking for his team to jump out early and get the first goal. On Saturday, the Golden Tornadoes did just that against a very good Roberts Wesleyan team, but they could not hold on and eventually dropped a 5-2 decision. The loss dropped Geneva′s record to 2-10-3 on the season, including an 0-3-1 record in the AMC North.

H.P. McCracken scored just ten minutes into the game on a set piece for his team leading fourth goal of the season. McCracken′s goal may have awoken a sleeping giant as Roberts Wesleyan responded with four first half goals, including three goals in just an eight minute span to take control of the game. Geneva′s Will Godfrey scored just before halftime to cut the lead to 4-2, but Geneva could not get closer.

Roberts Wesleyan managed the only goal of the second half to put the game away. Geneva got out shot 17-7 in the match, while goalkeeper Sam McCracken made ten saves in the loss.

Geneva will host Pitt-Greensburg on Tuesday night before welcoming Daemen College to Merriman Athletic Complex next Saturday.
