Unlucky Seven, Losing Streak Continues For Geneva

North Canton, OH - Seven was anything but lucky for Geneva′s women′s soccer team on Tuesday night. The Golden Tornadoes dropped a 3-0 decision to Walsh University for their seventh consecutive loss. Geneva′s record fell to 4-10 on the season after being shut-out for the second time in as many games.

The 3-0 final was not indicative of the closeness of the match. Although Walsh out shot Geneva 18-11 on the night, the Cavaliers could not put Geneva away until the final minutes of the second half.

After Walsh opened the scoring with a goal in 11th minute, the game remained a one-goal difference until the Cavaliers scored on a penalty kick in the 77th minute. The final goal was scored with less than a minute remaining in the match.

Amber Weaver was back in the net for the Golden Tornadoes and made seven saves in the loss.

Still very much involved in the AMC North play-off race, Geneva has a must-win situation against Daemen College coming up on Saturday afternoon. Should the Golden Tornadoes get past Daemen, it would be very likely that Geneva could sneak into the play-offs as the number four seed out of the AMC North. In addition to the Daemen match, Geneva just has Carlow University left on the conference schedule. Geneva must win both matches to qualify for the post-season.
