Seniors Say Good-Bye at Final Home Match

Beaver Falls, PA - Senior day is always an emotional time for any team. On Wednesday night, Geneva′s women′s soccer team watched four players end their home career at the Merriman Athletic Complex. For the senior class of 2006 it was not the storybook ending they were hoping for as the Golden Tornadoes dropped a 4-0 decision to Tiffin University. The loss dropped Geneva′s overall record to 4-12, while Tiffin improved to 11-3-2.

Geneva′s women dropped their ninth consecutive decision, including four consecutive shut-outs in the last four matches. On Wednesday night, Geneva saw Tiffin strike early to draw first blood. The Dragons connected on a corner kick just 45 seconds into the match.

Geneva and Tiffin then played even for the remainder of the first half. Tiffin regained control in the second half and found the net three more times to extend the lead and secure its 11th victory of the season.

Tiffin out shot Geneva 21-7 in the match, however, Amber Weaver made 14 saves in the game to keep the Golden Tornadoes in the match. Senior goalkeeper Jennifer Rosselit made five saves to record her 10th shut-out of the season for Tiffin.

Tiffin got second half goals at the 53rd, 75th and 82nd minute to put the game away.

Geneva′s senior class of Serena Tokarcik, Amanda Weaver, Lisa Drentkiewicz and Nichole Casper played their final game on home turf. However, the Golden Tornadoes will have two more chances to get back into the win column this season. Geneva closes out the AMC North schedule on Saturday at Carlow and will end the regular season at Myers University next Tuesday.
