Matt Colella heads the list of Award Winners for baseball.
He was named AMC North & Region 9 Player of the Year.

Beaver Falls, PA

- Geneva's NAIA play-off run came to an end at the NAIA regional tournament, but the Golden Tornadoes are still looking forward to hosting the NCCAA national tournament in Youngstown, OH this week. After the dust settled in the American Mideast Conference and Region 9 of the NAIA, Geneva's team swept the top post-season honors.

Matt Colella was named the AMC North and Region 9 player of the year. Colella ended the regular season with a .381 average, including 51 hits, 53 runs scored and a team best eight home runs. Perhaps even more impressive, Colella committed just one error in almost 200 chances at shortstop. Colella was also named a member of the first-ever NAIA Rawlings Gold Glove team. Teammate Mike Bruno was also a member of the Gold Glove team with his perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in left field.

While Colella was busy picking up the player of the year award, Geneva's Dave Foss was named the AMC North pitcher of the year. Foss was 6-2 with a 4.20 ERA in the regular season. He recorded 29 strikeouts in 55.2 innings of work. In addition to Foss and Colella, Rob Arata, Mike Bruno, Dan DeMarco and Justin Montgomery were also first-team All-Conference selections.

Second team All-Conference selections included Tadd Eyster and Derek Sumner. Brandon Baughman, Andy Lubich and Andy Hiskey were also honorable mention selections.

Colella, the NAIA region 9 player of the year, was joined by Dan DeMarco and Dave Foss on the All-Region first team.

Head coach Alan Sumner was named the AMC North Coach of the Year after guiding the Golden Tornadoes to their first ever AMC North title. Geneva is currently 29-20 after the regional tournament. The Golden Tornadoes are set for the NCCAA nationals, which begin this week.

Amy Pearce heads the list of post-season softball award
winners as a first-team All-Conference and All-Region selection.

Beaver Falls, PA

- Amy Pearce enjoyed a career year for Geneva's softball team this spring. Tying the school record for hits (66) and home runs (9) in a year, Pearce's accomplishments did not go unnoticed as she was named a first-team All-Conference selection, along with two of her teammates.

Joining Pearce on the first team was junior Jackie Anthony and sophomore Ashley Archer. Anthony hit .331 with 24 stolen bases, while Archer compiled 14 victories and three saves during Geneva's 33-22 season.

Pearce and Anthony were also selected to the NAIA Region 9 first team, while Pearce also garnered first team All-American status in the NCCAA.

Teammates Marisa Barickman and Erinne Metler were second team selections. The two seniors played significant roles in Geneva's success throughout their careers. Barickman had a career high 49 hits this year, while Metler finished her season at 19-11 on the mound. Metler won 51 games during her career, which broke Geneva's all-time record for pitching victories.

Sophomore Michawn Rich was named an honorable mention selection in the AMC North, while also being named a second team NCCAA All-American, along with Metler.

Geneva finished the season with a record of 33-22, which broke the school record for most games played in a season with 55.
