GENEVASETTLES FOR FLORIDASPLIT

Babson Park, FL - Geneva′s men′s basketball Florida swing ended on Saturday afternoon with an 81-70 loss to Webber International. One day after an impressive 38-point win over Florida Christian, Geneva was unable to knock down open shots and allowed 22 offensive rebounds as the Golden Tornadoes dropped to 6-5 on the season.

Geneva shot just 33% as a team from the field for the game, including just six field goals in the second half. Despite the poor shooting, the Golden Tornadoes hung around thanks to their effort at the foul line. Geneva was 30-37 from the stripe for the game and trailed Webber International by just four points with less than two minutes to play. However, Geneva twice allowed second chance points off of offensive rebounds in the final minutes as WIU held on for its fifth victory of the season.

"We just didn′t shoot the ball very well," said head coach Jeff Santarsiero. "When you don′t shoot well and don′t rebound well, it usually means a long night and that is exactly what we got."

Geneva did get 18 points from Greg McDivitt to lead all scorers. Bryan Hill added 12 points while Justin Nardi and Matt Blocki chipped in with ten points each. Geneva got out rebounded by the count of 47-25, including 22 rebounds on the offensive glass. "This is a very athletic team at Webber," said Santarsiero. "We didn′t do a good enough job getting physical in the paint and we paid the price."

Geneva trailed by 11 points at the half, but cut into the lead to get within a two possession game down the stretch, but again missed shots and rebounding proved to be the difference. Halston Shaffer led Webber with 16 points and 12 rebounds in the victory.

Geneva will return to Beaver Falls early next week to prepare for its home meeting with Saint Vincent College next Saturday night.
