Phil Breneman, a summa cum laude graduate of Geneva and Ph.D. candidate at Lehigh University, will make a public presentation in room 233 of the Science & Engineering Building this Friday, Jan. 18 at 3 p.m. Visitors are welcome to attend.
Breneman will focus on the topic of Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV), an experimental technique used to measure velocities and related properties in fluids. While most practical flow problems have no analytical solutions, PIV has been a helpful tool for researchers in visualizing flow fields and validating computational models. PIV has been utilized in many fields, from aviation to the design of medical implants.
Breneman will present results drawn from his own work, as well as the studies of others in this field. The presentation is sponsored by Geneva College′s student sections of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
