Black Students Organization (BSO)

There′s more than one way to celebrate Black History Month and that′s exactly what the Geneva community is doing. During the month of February, Geneva is hosting multiple events that range from a talent show to a delicious soul food dinner. 

Students gathered on Wed., February 6 for the African American Read-In Chain Sponsored by the Black Students Organization (BSO), the campus was able to hear a constant flow of poetry, spoken word and short stories written by African Americans.

The annual BSO Talent Show will be in Skye Lounge on February 15 at 8 p.m. The campus and Beaver Falls community and is invited to watch as students showcase their talents – from miming and singing to comedy acts. Participants will be judged by members of the faculty and staff.

On February 27, the Multiethnic Student Service Office will hold the annual Soul Food dinner. The event is open to the campus and community. There will be a large selection of mouth-watering soul food dishes made from the heart. The dinner will be held 4:45 p.m. in the Alexander Dining Hall. Students will use their meal cards, all others pay at the door.

Also on February 27, the BSO will show the film Pride at 8 p.m. in the John H. White Auditorium. Pride, starring Terrence Howard, tells the story of James Ellis, coach of the first African American swim team.
