The Genevans

Dr. Robert CopelandBeaver Falls, Pa. – As part of its 70th anniversary celebration, Geneva College′s highly acclaimed mixed choir, The Genevans, will bring to life the theme “The True Use of Music” in concert on March 28 and 29 at 8 p.m. in the John H. White Chapel on Geneva′s campus. Under the baton of director Dr. Robert Copeland, The Genevans will perform a variety of songs — including Broadway musicals, folk songs, hymns and psalms.

Established in 1938, The Genevans represent the merger of Geneva′s original men′s and women′s glee clubs. Since then, the choir has performed across the United States and Canada, as well as in ten European countries, to significant acclaim.

The Genevans have been directed for twenty-seven years by Dr. Robert Copeland, a Geneva alumnus who earned his M.Mus. and Ph.D. degrees from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. Prior to joining the Geneva faculty, he served in the U.S. Army and taught in Kansas for ten years. Dr. Copeland is also an active elder in his church.

The concert is open to the public, and attendance is free. For more information, contact the music department at 724-847-6660
