TABLES TURNED IN DAYTWO OF HOPKINSTOURNY

Baltimore, MD - Geneva′s women′s volleyball team had a memorable opening day on Friday night with a pair of victories at the Johns Hopkins Tournament. The Golden Tornadoes, however, won′t be celebrating on their way back to Beaver Falls on Saturday after having the tables turned against them with a pair of losses to close out the tournament. Geneva dropped a 3-2 decision to Widener in the first match and dropped a 3-0 match to host Johns Hopkins in the night cap.

Geneva rallied against Widner to take game four and force a deciding fifth game. The Golden Tornadoes dropped the fifth and deciding game by the slimmest of margins at 15-13. Brandi Snavely picked up 52 assists in the loss, while Elizabeth Fisher led the way with 24 digs and 18 kills. Adriane Blake added 17 kills in a losing effort.

Fisher continued her strong play against Johns Hopkins with team highs in kills with seven and blocks with a pair. Snavely added 21 assists and Blake had 18 digs. Fisher was Geneva′s most consistent player in all four matches over the weekend and as a result was the lone Golden Tornado named to the All-Tournament team.

Geneva′s volleyball team will be back in action next weekend when they participate in a tournament at Hiram College on Friday and Saturday. They do not open the home schedule until September 20th.
