NO NINE LIVES FOR THESE CATS, GENEVASWEEPS

SAINT VINCENTANDTHIEL

Beaver Falls, PA - It was the home opener for Geneva′s women′s volleyball team on Saturday and cats were not welcome. After spending the first ten matches of the season on the road, the Golden Tornadoes finally made their way to Metheny Fieldhouse and defeated both Thiel College and Saint Vincent College. Neither the Tomcats nor the Bearcats could manage a game as Geneva pulled off 3-0 victories in each match. The doubleheader sweep moved Geneva′s win streak to seven matches and moved its overall record to 9-3, including four straight victories against PAC opponents.

In match number one, Geneva allowed just 45 total points in the three game victory. Adriane Blake paced the offense with 15 kills, while teammate Elizabeth Fisher chipped in with nine kills. Blake added 17 digs for the team lead while junior setter Brandi Snavely continued her solid play with 28 assists.

The night cap took a bit more out of the Golden Tornadoes as the first two games went down the wire with Geneva coming away victories 26-24 and 25-23. Game three was a bit easier at 25-20. Rachel Kuegler led the way with 14 kills and Adriane Blake posted 12 kills and 21 digs in the victory. Faith Guerra helped the defensive effort with 20 digs and Snavely put up 39 more assists.

Geneva will go back on the road on Wednesday to face Bethany College before returning home next Friday for a tri-match with Penn State Beaver and Houghton College.
