DOUBLE OT CAN′T DECIDE WINNER, GENEVA

SETTLES FOR SECOND STRAIGHT TIE

Heidelberg, OH -The good news for Geneva′s women′s soccer team this week is that it did not lose either of its matches. The bad news for the Golden Tornadoes is that they didn′t win either game. For the second time this week, Geneva was forced to settle for a tie. On Saturday, Geneva could not hold a two leads and finished the game in a 2-2 tie with Heidelberg. Geneva moved its overall record to 3-2-2, including an unbeaten streak of three straight.

Geneva found the net first when Rebecca Shaw took a cross and dribbled past Heidelberg keeper Lauren Sweeney in the 13th minute. That lead last fifteen minutes until Katelyn McBeath netted her first of two goals in the 28th minute. The game remained tied into the halftime break.

Just under two minutes into the second half, Geneva′s Kelsey Anderson gave Geneva its second lead of the match with her second goal of the season. Like the first half, the lead was short-lived as Heidelberg knotted the game on McBeath′s second goal in the 60th minute. Neither team could score in the final 30 minutes of regulation or in the 20 minutes of overtime.

Geneva was out shot 22-14 in the match, but Lauren Londino came up with nine saves to earn another tie for the Golden Tornadoes.

The Golden Tornadoes will return home next Wednesday to host Pitt-Greensburg in their only match of the week.
