TENNIS TEAMGETS INTO THE WINNING
STREAK ACT WITH DECISION OVER W & J

Beaver Falls, PA - The fall of 2008 athletic season is not yet halfway over, but before too long it may referred to as the fall of the winning streak. With several Geneva teams pushing win streaks to new heights, the Geneva women′s tennis team pushed its modest streak to two with an 8-1 victory over Washington & Jefferson on Thursday. Geneva improved its overall record to 4-3, including its second consecutive victory against a PAC foe.

The Golden Tornadoes were handed a significant advantage before the match started when the President′s showed up with just five players. As a result, W & J was forced to forfeit #6 singles and #3 doubles giving Geneva a 2-0 lead before the match started. It was an advantage Geneva really wouldn′t need as the Golden Tornadoes dominated play from top to bottom.

In singles action, Chelsea Cover cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory in number one singles. Other winners in singles play included Amy Weller, Jill Grabski and Bethany Ragonesi. Cover teamed up with Kara Zimmerman for a victory in #1 doubles, while Weller and Grabski took care of their 2nd doubles match.

Geneva′s home run continues with a match against Saint Vincent on Saturday afternoon. Next week, the Golden Tornadoes sandwich home conference matches with Westminster and Bethany around a non-conference match at LaRoche next Friday.
