Homecoming 2008 - Follow the yellow brick road

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. —Geneva College is kicking off this year′s Homecoming with style by incorporating the Wonderful World of Oz into every corner of its campus. Students, alumni, faculty, staff and members of the community are invited to join in the fun and march along the yellow brick road at Geneva on Saturday, October 4. There will literally be a yellow brick road stretching from in front of McKee Hall all the way to the Student Center.

The day′s festivities will include more than 50 craft, food and game booths that will line Geneva′s campus from 10 – 4p.m. Other activities will include the thrilling zip line, sidewalk parade, carnival games and live music featuring Stephanie Fraschetti, the Trinity Jazztet and several student/alumni bands.

For kids of all ages there will be face painting, pony rides, games, a rock climbing wall and other fun activities.

The schedule follows:

9 a.m. – 12 noon Admissions Visits and Tours. Meet with admissions counselors and take a campus tour. To register, please contact enrollment services at 724-847-6500. No charge.

9 a.m. Geneva College Homecoming 5K Run & Family Fun Walk. Starting at The Studio Theater and ending on Reeves Field.

10 a.m. – 4 p.m. College Hill Festival – Street fair, including craft and food vendors, located on campus.

10:30 a.m.  Women′s Tennis Match, Geneva vs. Bethany at Beaver Falls High School.

1 p.m.  Sidewalk Parade – Begins at Geneva′s tennis courts, circles around campus and ends on College Avenue. Student-made floats can be seen along with characters from the Wizard of Oz and candy for the kids.

2:30 p.m.  Reeves Field Dedication and Open House – President Ken Smith will dedicate the newly renovated stadium at a special ceremony at the front gate. Once the gate is open, the community can tour the new facility. The first 200 visitors will receive a special gift.

6:30 p.m. Pre-Game Show – Featuring the crowning of the homecoming king and queen and a performance by the marching band.

7 p.m. Football Game and Laser Show – Geneva Tornados vs. Washington & Jefferson Presidents. Half-time show featuring the Alumni Band. A laser light show will follow the football game.
