BACK IN THE GAME, GENEVA PUTS END TO SLIDE AT WAYNESBURG

Waynesburg, PA - Geneva′s men′s soccer team has been searching for the winning formula it enjoyed earlier in the season. The Golden Tornadoes were able to get back into the win column on Wednesday night and put an end to their three-game slide with a 4-2 victory over Waynesburg. With the victory, Geneva improved to 11-4 on the season.

Geneva had seemingly put the game away when it stretched the lead to 3-0, but the Golden Tornadoes needed a late insurance goal to put the Yellow Jackets away. It took 25 minutes for Geneva to strike but it was Bruce Fox who put away his sixth goal of the season when he deposited a feed from Jake McCracken into the back of the net. Fox was then the beneficiary of a perfect cross from Eric Meyers in the 37th minute. Fox found the net for his second goal of the night to give Geneva a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

Josh Mann headed in a corner kick from Gabe Kleinart just two minutes into the second half to give the Golden Tornadoes a three goal advantage. To Waynesburg′s credit, it didn′t quit. The Yellow Jackets scored back to back goals ten minutes apart to cut the lead to 3-2 with still 25 minutes remaining in the match. Mann put the game away with his second goal of the game on a feed from Matt Weaver.

Geneva out shot Waynesburg 13-11 as junior goalkeeper David Callahan also got back into the win column after suffering losses in his last two outings.

The Golden Tornadoes return to Merriman Athletic Complex on Saturday night to host Thomas More College in the regular season home finale.
