Adriane BlakeBeaver Falls, PA – Geneva′s women′s volleyball team enjoyed a memorable season with a record of 22-11 and the school′s first 20-win season in five years. The Golden Tornadoes finished third in the NCCAA east regional and sophomore Adriane Blake raised eyebrows across the nation by receiving the first Geneva All-American selection for volleyball in school history. Blake was honored as a second team NCCAA All-American for a season that saw her finish second in the country with 450 kills (3.95/gm). Blake also led the Golden Tornadoes with 69 service aces (0.61/gm).

While Blake was honored for her work on the court, a handful of Geneva players were recognized for their work in the classroom. Four players on the Golden Tornadoes roster received Scholar-Athlete recognition with at least a 3.4 grade point average. All recipients also needed to be either a junior or senior.

Seniors Blair Bruce and Elizabeth Fisher, along with juniors Brandi Snavely and Michelle Zimmovan were all recognized for excellence on and off the court. All four student-athletes started each of Geneva′s 33 matches and all played a significant role in the resurgence of Geneva volleyball.

“We had such an exciting season,” said co-Head Coach Wendy Smith. “This is just the icing on the cake for our student-athletes. Adriane was dominant throughout the season and we are also very proud of our work in the classroom. Each of these young ladies deserved all the recognition. They all worked extremely hard.”
