CURRENT CLOSES WITH LOSS AT WESTMINSTER

New Wilmington, PA - Senior night at Geneva College on Wednesday was a special one for Michawn Rich as the lone senior on the roster celebrated an impressive victory over Thiel College. On Saturday, Rich and her Golden Tornadoes teammates were playing their final game of the season and were unable to come away with a similar result. Geneva dropped a 64-56 decision to Westminster in the season finale to fall to 9-15 on the season while the Titans improved to 8-17.

Westminster took a 35-30 lead into halftime and was able to extend the lead into double digits on two separate occasions. The Golden Tornadoes made a late run in the second half and cut an 11-point deficit down to two points, but were unable to ever grab the lead.

Valerie Hamilton played one of her best games of the year in leading Geneva with 16 points and seven rebounds. Rachel Barry scored 13 points and Michawn Rich ended her career with a 12 point effort in the loss to the Titans. Westminster got 22 points from Gina Brunetti, who was playing on her home court for the final time in her career.

Both teams struggled protecting the basketball as Westminster suffered 26 turnovers while goals and were just 1-11 from three point range in the second half. For the game, the Golden Tornadoes were 3-24 from outside the arc.

Interim head coach Amy Russin watched her team limp to the finish line with just one victory in the final nine games of the season.

Geneva′s lone senior Michawn Rich ended her career on Saturday but not before leaving a legacy of excellence. Rich was an integral part of Geneva′s back to back 20-win seasons and its only trip to the NAIA national tournament following her sophomore season.
