Beginning with the class of 2010, graduating seniors of Geneva College will get an earlier start on the next phase of their lives, due to a new spring semester schedule. Undergraduate commencement will take place on Monday, May 10, 2010 at 10 a.m. Baccalaureate will be held the preceding evening on Sunday, May 9.

The academic calendar was adjusted by ending Spring break one day early, allowing finals to end on a Friday, instead of on a Monday. No class days were lost in the transition. Due to cost and declining student interest, the college will not continue the practice of Senior Week, which has traditionally taken place during the week between finals and graduation. There will still be a Senior Brunch or similar event.

In addition to giving graduates an extra week to move forward with career and life plans, the new schedule will give students and faculty a break before summer classes begin.
