Beaver Falls, PA - It was far from a perfect day at Merriman Athletic Complex on Saturday but the Geneva women′s soccer team seemed to enjoy the wet conditions in a 2-0 victory over Heidelberg College. The victory moved Geneva to 6-2 on the season including four consecutive victories and three straight shut-outs.

The Golden Tornadoes scored a pair of first half goals just three minutes apart with both coming as a result of head shots. Maura Allen got Geneva on the board when she knocked an Elise Mann cross into the back of the net. Mann sent a corner kick into the middle of the box just three minutes later and teammate Julie Collins headed the ball past the Heidelberg keeper. The two goals came in the 17th and 20th minutes of the first half.

Those two goals were more than enough for junior goalkeeper Lauren Londino. Londino registered her third shut-out and the team′s fourth shut-out of the season. She made seven saves in the match as Heidelberg made a strong second half push with no results. Geneva out shot Heidelberg 14-10 for the match as it dominated play for over half of the match.

Geneva will travel to Thomas More next Friday for the first PAC action of the season and will put its four game winning streak on the line.
