Beaver Falls, PA – The Geneva College women′s volleyball team improved to 10-3 on Wednesday with a pair of victories on its home floor. The Golden Tornadoes had played on three of its first 11 matches at home before Wednesday′s doubleheader sweep. The night began with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Carnegie Mellon before a 3-1 win over conference foe Chatham University.

In the first match of the night, both teams traded wins in the first four games before Geneva snuck past CMU by the count of 15-10 in the fifth and deciding game. Adriane Blake led the offense with 25 kills, including five throw downs in game five. Blake also led the defensive effort by tying for the team lead with 21 digs. Rachel Kuegler also picked up 21 digs to go along with her 13 kills. Brandi Snavely was solid at the setter position with 54 assists in the five-game victory.

After a stressful and energy filled match against CMU, co-head coaches Wendy Smith and Curt Conser decided to give many of their starters a rest in the night cap. Despite many of the key suspects watching from the bench, the Golden Tornadoes still took control of the match against Chatham after dropping the first game 25-23. Kristland McCracken led the offense with 21 kills and Erin Smith added 35 assists in the night cap. Paige Banyas led the defense with 25 digs for the Golden Tornadoes.

Geneva will hit the road on Saturday as it visits Waynesburg to take on the Yellowjackets and the Bearcats of Saint Vincent College.
