Waynesburg, PA - Geneva′s volleyball team took to the road early Saturday morning in search of extending a four-match winning streak with a pair of opportunities at Waynesburg University. The Golden Tornadoes did indeed extend their winning streak to five matches, but saw that streak come to an end in the night cap. Geneva opened the day with a 3-0 victory over Waynesburg, but dropped a 3-1 decision to Saint Vincent. The split moved Geneva′s overall record to 11-4 on the season.

The day opened with Geneva cruising past Waynesburg by scores of 25-10, 25-12, and 25-14. Rachel Kuegler led the offense with 12 kills with freshman Kristland McCracken picking up 11 kills. Michelle Zimmovan added nine kills and a team best four service aces. Brandi Snavely picked up 38 assists while Brianna Mixter led the defense with 16 digs.

Mixter picked up 18 digs in the loss to Saint Vincent in a match that featured the Bearcats out playing the Golden Tornadoes in nearly every phase of the match. Saint Vincent won games one and two by scores of 25-12 and 25-13. Geneva took game three 25-19 before watching the Bearcats close out the match 25-15 in the fourth game. The only significant offensive numbers in the loss came from Laura Zerbe who posted a team best ten kills.

Geneva will remain on the road for four matches next week beginning with a trip to Kentucky on Tuesday to battle Thomas More College. The Golden Tornadoes don′t return home until October 15th to face Bethany.
