Beaver Falls, PA - It was a perfect afternoon for the Geneva College women′s tennis team. On a beautiful homecoming in Beaver Falls, the Golden Tornadoes defeated Waynesburg 5-4 in the home finale and in the process improved to 9-4 and extended their win streak to seven straight. Geneva is enjoying its longest win streak in over a decade and has just one more match remaining on the 2009 schedule.

It was the top two players on Geneva′s roster Chelsea Cover and Kara Zimmerman who led the way on Saturday. They teamed up for a win in doubles play before each taking a singles match for the Golden Tornadoes. Cover and Zimmerman won for the seventh straight time. Zimmerman then picked up her sixth consecutive singles match. She is coming off the NCCAA national player of the week award.

Geneva′s other victory came from the number doubles tandem of Amy Weller and Ashlyn Mallison by the score of 8-4. But it was Cover′s three set victory that proved to be the difference in Geneva′s 5-4 victory, which comes one year after Geneva dropped a 5-4 decision to Waynesburg.

The Golden Tornadoes will close out the regular season next Wednesday in New Wilmington against Westminster College.
