Beaver Falls, PA - For the second consecutive week, Geneva′s tennis team enjoyed a national honor. Chelsea Cover became the second women′s tennis player in as many weeks to be named the NCCAA national player of the week. Cover is also the fifth Geneva College student-athlete in for weeks to be named player of the week.

Geneva′s women′s tennis team ended the week with a seven game winning streak and an overall record of 9-4. The Golden Tornadoes defeated Washington & Jefferson and Waynesburg last week in Presidents′ Athletic Conference victories. Cover was a perfect 4-0 in those matches with a pair of wins in singles and doubles. She has won three straight in singles action and was also riding an eight-game doubles streak alongside Kara Zimmerman, who ironically was the NCCAA player of the week last week.

Cover, who has been slotted in as the number one singles and doubles player for head coach Mandee Craft, has enjoyed a winning record in both the last two years.

Geneva saw its winning streak and regular season come to an end on Wednesday afternoon with an 8-1 loss to Westminster, but that should not dampen the spirits of a Geneva team that enjoyed a record breaking season in 2009.
