Beaver Falls, PA - For Geneva College head men′s basketball coach Jeff Santarsiero, October 15th could not have come any sooner. Beginning his 15th season as Geneva′s head men′s coach, Santarsiero and the Golden Tornadoes will look to put their 8-17 overall record behind them as they prepare for the next chapter of Geneva College men′s basketball. The women′s team will also be looking to improve upon its 9-15 overall mark from a year ago. Former Geneva star Renee Drake returns to the Golden Tornadoes′ program as an interim head coach replacing Ron Galbreath, who retired just a couple of months ago.

October 15th marks the first day in which NCAA teams can practice, but there is still plenty of time before the regular season begins. The women′s team will open its season at the LaRoche College tournament with games against Carlow University on November 16th and LaRoche on November 17th. The men′s basketball team will host its annual Tip-Off Tournament on November 20-21 with Geneva opening up against Penn State New Kensington.

Jeff Santarsiero will welcome back a cupboard full of veteran players. In fact, the Geneva men′s team will have five of its top six scorers from a year ago back including four of the five starters. Rich Colick leads that group as Geneva′s leading scorer from last year at a mark of 16.0 points per game.

Renee Drake will need to fill the void left by leading scorer Michawn Rich, but she will welcome back Renee Rawding after she was injured just four games into last season. Rawding was Geneva′s second leading scorer in her sophomore and junior seasons.
