Beaver Falls, PA - Matt Dean was honored by the NCCAA on Wednesday as the national football player of the week. Dean scored three touchdowns on runs of two, four and 48 yards last Saturday in Geneva′s come from behind 38-20 victory over Saint Vincent College. Dean becomes the third consecutive Geneva football player to be honored by the NCCAA and the eighth student-athlete from Geneva to be awarded this fall. The Golden Tornadoes have had at least one student-athlete receive a national player of the week award for seven consecutive weeks.

Dean only rushed the ball seven times but gained 66 yards in the process. Close to ten yards a carry, Dean continued his ability to find the end zone. For the season, he has scored ten rushing touchdowns to go with eight touchdowns in 2008. Dean′s 48 yard touchdown came midway through the third quarter to give Geneva a one-point lead at the time.

Geneva will put its 6-1 overall record and perfect 4-0 home mark on the line on Saturday in the home finale against Bethany College. The Golden Tornadoes close out the regular season on the road against defending PAC champion Thomas More and Westminster in the final two weeks of the season.
