Pittsburgh, PA - First year interim head coach Renee Drake got the chance to experience victory in her first game on Monday night. On Tuesday, Drake and her Geneva women′s team got the opportunity to play a game that went down to the wire at LaRoche College. Unfortunately the Golden Tornadoes came out on the short end of a 59-58 decision to the host of the LaRoche College Tournament. The Redhawks improved to 2-0 while Geneva saw its early season record evened at 1-1.

On Monday the Golden Tornadoes shot the ball well and protected it even better with only ten turnovers. Tuesday night′s game took on a different look as the Golden Tornadoes turned the ball over 21 times and shot only 30% from the field for the game. Despite those problems, Geneva held the lead for most of the night. Leading by as many as seven in the second half, Geneva watched the Redhawks rally back and take the lead with 2 ½ minutes remaining in regulation on a three-point play from Chantelle Jennings. The Golden Tornadoes were not able to respond with any points in the final moments and dropped the one point decision.

Freshman Leah Prisuta established herself on the collegiate level with a team best 16 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Prisuta did most of her damage from long distance with four three-point field goals in five attempts. Renee Rawding followed up her 20 point performance on Monday with 15 points in Tuesday′s loss.

Leading by a point at the half, Geneva managed only six field goals in the final 20 minutes and shot just 29% from the field. LaRoche featured the duo of Jennings with 18 points and the game winner along with Chloe Stewart′s game high 19 points.

The Golden Tornadoes return to Metheny Fieldhouse on Saturday night for the home opener against Point Park University at 8 pm.
