Grove City, PA - Geneva′s women′s basketball team remained winless on the road at 0-7 with a 60-51 overtime loss to Grove City on Wednesday night. The loss was the fourth straight for the Golden Tornadoes as they fell to 5-9 with Grove City improving to 7-7 on the season.

The Wolverines opened a seven-point first half lead only to have the Golden Tornadoes rally to tie the score at 22-22 by halftime. Similarly in the second half, Grove City opened up a 43-33 lead with just over six minutes remaining in the second half. The Golden Tornadoes scored the final ten points, including a Val Hamilton running jumper with 14 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime. "We had a lot of chances to get a victory, but couldn′t make a big shot when we needed it," said head coach Renee Drake.

Geneva never led in the game as Grove City opened a 9-2 lead to start the game and was able to hold off the Golden Tornadoes on several occasions in the second half. Geneva managed only nine field goals in the first half and shot just 31% from the field for the game. Even more frustrating was the 4-17 mark from three-point range.

The Golden Tornadoes were led by Renee Rawding′s 12 points and ten points from Alyse Scarsella. Grove City got a game high 17 points and 13 rebounds from Christine Slater and 16 from Mean Gebrosky. Gebrosky hit a three-pointer early in overtime to give the Wolverines a lead it would never relinquish. "We played extremely hard and I am certainly proud of the effort," said Drake. "We just need to find a way to start picking up some victories and some confidence."

The Golden Tornadoes will look for that first road victory of the season on Saturday afternoon when they travel to New Wilmington to take on Westminster at 2 pm.
