Beaver Falls, PA - It was the end of an era in two respects on Wednesday night as the Geneva College women played their final home game of the season. For seniors Renee Rawding and Liz DiPietro it was the final time wearing the home white uniforms. For former head coach Ron Galbreath, a pre-game ceremony recognizing his achievements, officially put an end to his 35+ year coaching career. As for the game, a late Geneva rally fell short in a 72-69 loss to Westminster College. The loss dropped Geneva to 8-16 overall while Westminster improved to 10-14 on the season.

Rawding ended her career in style as the ninth leading scorer in Geneva women′s history posted a team best 23 points including 4-7 from three-point range. A Rawding three pointer followed by another trey from Beth DeLuca pulled Geneva to within a point with four seconds left. A pair of Amy Dolsak free throws iced the game as a desperation shot from DeLuca fell short. Dolsak was a thorn in Geneva′s side with 23 points of her own including 5-6 from the foul line.

DeLuca was Geneva′s only other scorer to reach double figures with ten points off the bench. Alyse Scarsella scored nine points and grabbed eight rebounds in the loss. "All year we have continued to battle," said head coach Renee Rawding. "A couple key missed shots and badly timed turnovers cost us this game."

Geneva will close out the season on Saturday night when it looks for a season sweep against Waynesburg on the road.
