Bethany, WV - Fresh off a heartbreaking loss to Bethany on Friday afternoon, the Geneva baseball team dropped a pair to the Bison on Saturday by scores of 4-2 and 6-3. The doubleheader loss dropped Geneva′s overall record to 8-7 which comes on the heels of a five game winning streak coming into the weekend.

Matt Baer went the distance for Geneva in game one but came away with the loss allowing eight hits in the game. Offensively, Phil Shallenberger, Jon Jurinko and Joe Jurinko each had a pair of hits in game one. Joe Jurinko′s two-run single in the third inning was all the offense generated by the Golden Tornadoes in an eight hit attack.

Geneva scored all three of its runs in game two in the first and second innings. Shallenberger scored after a throw to first following a strikeout and Geneva plated two in the second on RBI′s from Joel Dille and Noah Medich. Shallenberger was handed the loss in game two in relief as the Bison scored all of their runs after the fourth inning.

The Golden Tornadoes will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon with a home doubleheader against Washington & Jefferson.
