Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva College baseball team is making up for lost time. Geneva is clicking on all cylinders, especially in the final inning. On Friday, the Golden Tornadoes made it three consecutive walk-off winners on Jon Bushmire′s RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to cap a 6-5 Geneva victory over Waynesburg. Geneva′s fifth straight win moved its overall record to 14-17.

Waynesburg opened the scoring with two runs in the first inning and another in the third to take a 3-0 lead. Geneva got on the board on Jon Jurinko′s solo home run leading off the bottom of the third. Trailing 4-1 into the bottom of the seventh, Geneva scored a pair to cut the lead to one. Jurinko′s RBI triple scored the first run and then he crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Justin Acosta. Geneva still trailed by a run heading into the bottom of the seventh when Acosta′s RBI single tied the game prior to Bushmire′s game winner.

Geneva banged out 14 hits in the game including three hits from Jon Jurinko and Justin Acosta. Matt Baer kept Geneva in the game with eight solid innings by allowing just four earned runs. Tad Forsythe pitched a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the victory after Geneva′s walk-off winner.

The Golden Tornadoes will head to Waynesburg on Saturday for a doubleheader at 1 pm.
