Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva College softball team came within one victory of potentially accepting an at-large bid to the NCCAA national tournament. Despite a disappointing tenth inning loss in the final game of the season and an overall record of 23-17, several Geneva players were honored this week by both the Presidents′ Athletic Conference and the National Christian College Athletic Association.

Julie DiLonardo had one of the finest seasons in the circle of any Geneva College pitcher in its history. DiLonardo finished the year with a record of 21-10, which tied the single season school mark for wins. She posted a 1.69 ERA and set the Geneva single season mark with 154 strikeouts. For her efforts, DiLonardo was named a first team NCCAA All-East region performer as well as receiving coach′s honors from the Presidents′ Athletic Conference. Joining DiLonardo on the NCCAA All-Region team were Martha Adams and Adriane Blake. Adams hit .351 and scored a team best 42 runs on the year. She also led the Golden Tornadoes with her .441 on-base percentage. Blake hit .380 and led Geneva in hits (54), home runs (6) and RBI′s (43). She also stole 27 bases in 29 attempts. Both Adams and Blake were also PAC coach′s honor recipients.

Leanne Abate hit the most dramatic home run of the season in tying the season finale against Thiel in the bottom of the seventh inning. For the year, Abate hit .309 with a pair of homers and 24 RBI′s. Abate was also handed a PAC coach′s honor while being named an NCCAA All-Region honorable mention. Other honorable mention selections from the NCCAA went to Samantha Bautista, Samantha Michetti and Lexi Svingos.
